Flannel Flower
These velvety flannel flowers (Actinotus helianthi) grow in bushland near my home. They seem to be unusually prolific this year - perhaps because of the rain. Flannel flowers belong to the Apiaceae plant family which also includes carrots and parsley.

Flower of the Day - Flannel Flower (Actinotus helianthi)
Flannel flower is an Australian native plant found naturally on the east coast of New South Wales and southern Queensland. The actual flowers are tiny, being in the fluffy part in the centre surrounded by the velvety white bracts (modified leaves).
