Purple Hardenbergia

Hardenbergia Violace is an Australian native climbing plant which has beautiful purple blue pea flowers during Winter and Spring.  Hardenbergia is member of the pea plant family Fabaceae.

I photographed this flower whilst on a walk in nearby bushland in Sydney. It is also a popular garden plant.

Flower of the Day - yesterday's Mystery Flower revealed!

Flower of the Day Sturt's Desert Pea, Swainsona formosa
This flower is found naturally in the desert areas of central Australia. Because it is suited to a desert climate, it is difficult to grow in home gardens, although recently some new varieties have been developed for this purpose. Apart from this red and black spot variety, it can be found in white, pink and all red. Sturt's Desert Pea is also the floral emblem of the Australian state of South Australia.
