Flower of the Day - Tulips

Red & pink tulips for Sale!
Shopping at my local supermarket, I noticed these beautiful tulips for sale.
No, they're definitely not roses!!

Although tulips are associated with the Netherlands, the tulip is not a Dutch flower. Both the flower and its name originated in the Persian Empire. Tulips, or "Laleh" as they're called in Persian are indigenous to Iran, Afghanistan and parts of Central Asia. Tulips were introduced to Europe in the 16th century and are now found across the world.
The above information is from the New World Encyclopedia
